So yeeeah I thought I might as well weigh in on this logo fiasco going on right now. I understand what the designers were trying to do, and I actually do think some aspects are improvements. I like the typeface and new color, but the logo looks like escalators colliding in midair. Come to think of it, everyone seems to see something different, like the logo itself is a piece of art that's open to interpretation.
Oh God.
Was this their plan all along?!
But seriously, it's fine to leave an actual work of art open-ended (unless you're illustrating a specific story line), but not the icon of your website. There shouldn't be this sense of, "Oh well, you just don't get it." If you need to explain your logo, it fails as a logo. And that's a legitimate complaint I've read; not just people griping because they can't adapt to change and have nothing else to whine about.
All in all, I respect the effort to update the site's brand to something more sleek and fresh, but perhaps they could still rework the logo. And even if they don't, DA's image will just be revamped again in the next few years. It's a passing fad, so we might as well not get too worked up over it.

Quarantine beans
HEY wow so it's been over a year since I posted a journal entry. Might as well talk about that thing that's on the news 24/7.
It's weird, man. I was going to move back in March, but that didn't pan out for obvious reasons. Now I have piles of nonessential stuff lying around waiting to be packed, and since my lease is in effect and the real estate company is beholden to lenders, I have to pay rent on the new place despite not being there.
But frankly I'm lucky that's the only way the virus has impacted me. I'm healthy, and so are my family and friends. I have a job (I worked from home already, so nothing's changed), food, a roof over my head

Ko-fi and commissions OPEN
Oh hey, long time no journal entry. Figured I might as well update this, as the last one's over a year old now.
The reason I haven't been as active as I have in the past is because I took on loads of client work last year, often multiple projects at once. This led to 2018 becoming my best financial year yet, which enabled me to fully pay off two out of three student loans (hallelujah praise the Lord!). But there's still a lot of work to do. My new goal is to pay off the final (and biggest) loan within five years, and since freelance work isn't always steady, I'll need more ways to shore up that income. I envy those of you who don't live in t
Little victories
Obligatory end-of-year post, summin' things up.
I feel I've grown a little this year. Not a lot, but a little. As a person I've become more empathetic and attentive to others' needs. And hey, I crossed two items off my bucket list (namely seeing a total solar eclipse and eating crickets), which is two more than last year. Not too shabby!
Creatively, I've made strides in sharpening my observational skills, getting a better handle on color, finishing side projects I've wanted/needed to tackle for years, piecing together an actual plot for my characters' story, and refining my technique preferences in general. I continue to struggle with motiv
